TYPE DESIGN

DDI WAREHOUSE

Typeface designed for Downtown Durham, Inc., manager of Durham, NC’s downtown Business Improvement District. The design is inspired by signage of the Liberty Warehouse complex, a cluster of buildings used in various stages of tobacco auction. Most of the buildings have been destroyed for new development, but today’s Liberty Apartments have retained a portion of the signage.

Font includes characters necessary for English and Spanish text, alternate glyphs for select characters, and the gender-neutral “secte” vowel created by designer Aldo Arillo and artist Mario García. Download the type specimen as a PDF.
